LAWS OF CREATION

The heavens, the worlds, the creatures, the things and all that have been created were created as a consequence of the blending of meanings of the 'Beautiful Names' of God. For instance, the meanings of such names as 'The Lord', 'The Merciful', 'The Beneficent', 'The Omniscient', 'The Sovereign Lord' , 'The Gracious', 'The Wrathful' and 'the Compassionate' etc. are hidden in God's store of knowledge. The stars, the heavens, the seas, the things, the angels, the beasts and the human beings are but manifestations of the nominal meanings in God's store of wisdom. "In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together." (82/8) Given the fact that there is no power other than God, everything, whether visible or invisible, are but the manifestations of the Supreme Being. Yet, God has no boundaries and is beyond all that is visible. He is the One, the Eternal, the Absolute; He begetteth not, nor is He begotten; And there is none like unto Him.

According to the Qur'an the essence of creation is based on pairs. "Glory to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that the earth produces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other) things of which they have no knowledge." (36/36) Late Dr.Haluk Nurbaki made the following comments regarding the said pairs. Glorious God has no precedent, while the pairs he has created are like twins.

In God is inherent the two opposing elements, namely Djelal (magnanimity, sublimity, splendor, gorgeousness as well as wrath) that is the negative force in a sense and Djemal (beauty, goodness) that is the positive force.

Wrath-Mercy, Devil-Angel, Belief-Disbelief, Hell-Paradise, Light-Darkness, to go astray-to follow the right path, etc. are the opposing pairs.

GOD IN WHOM ALL OPPOSITES COALESCE

… every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)! (55/29)
All that is on earth will perish: But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour. (55/26-27)

God keeps on destroying and recreating. God, the One procreates the multiple which have indiscriminately an end and a beginning. The daily paper Hürriyet of 18.1.1996 published the photographs of a dying star and a dawning galaxy observed by the Hubble telescope. Stars each having the semblance of a sun explode and come to their terms after having existed for about 10 billions of years. On the Doomsday the earth will explode to birth to a new globe and a new sky. "One day the earth will be changed to a different earth, and so will be the heavens, and (men) will be marshalled forth, before Allah, the One, the Irresistible" (14/48)

All that is on earth will perish: But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour.

The term 'the Face of thy Lord' is one of the infinite manifestations of God. Whatever our eyes distinguish, all that they observe are but the manifestations of God's attributes. To Allah belong the east and the West: Whithersoever ye turn, there is the presence of Allah. For Allah is all-Pervading, all-Knowing. (2/115) Yet, God's quiddity is above all His manifestations.
