SATAN

JINNS AND SATAN EMBODIED MEN

Among Jinns and among men (114/6)
Likewise did We make for every Messenger an enemy,- evil ones among men and jinns,… (6/112)

Satan is not an independent being. It is the embodiment of evil. It manifest itself in men inspiring them suspicions and doubts and ill-conceived ideas.

IBLIS (Satan)THE SYMBOL OF EVIL

Behold! We said to the angels, "Bow down to Adam": They bowed down except Iblis. He was one of the Jinns, and he broke the Command of his Lord. (18/50)
(Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong, I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth, and I will put them all in the wrong,- "Except Thy servants among them, sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)." (15/39-40)

Satan or Iblis was one of the jinns that had been created of light before the advent of Adam. He had rebelled and failed to obey God's commandment. He had caused Adam to be expelled from the Garden. He was resolved to deceive men and paved their way to hell. Yet, to firm believers he was to remain powerless.

SATAN COMPANION TO MAN

If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of ((Allah)) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him. (43/36)
… Whoever, forsaking Allah, takes satan for a friend, hath of a surety suffered a loss that is manifest. (4/119)
O ye Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you, in the same manner as He got your parents out of the Garden, stripping them of their raiment, to expose their shame: for he and his tribe watch you from a position where ye cannot see them: We made the evil ones friends (only) to those without faith. (7/27)
And Satan will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you but ye listened to me: then reproach not me, but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries, nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrong-doers there must be a grievous penalty." (14/22)

The individual that stands aloof from the Qur'an is bound to be a prey to Satan's guiles.

AN ENEMY TO MAN

… Satan was an avowed enemy unto you?" (7/22)
… ! the Evil One is but a traitor to man!" (25/29)

Satan's unique task is to deceive man against whom angels will take the offensive. The aim of this confrontation is to make man to mature at the end of this ordeal

TAKE REFUGE WITH GOD

If a suggestion from Satan assail thy (mind), seek refuge with Allah. for He heareth and knoweth (all things). (7/200)
When thou dost read the Qur'an, seek Allah.s protection from Satan the rejected one. (16/98)

Should you suspect that you are being seduced by Satan, haste to take refuge in God! Reciting verses from the Qur'an will shove Satan away! When the Qur'an is read, listen to it with attention, and hold your peace: that ye may receive Mercy. (7/204) Which none shall touch but those who are clean: (56/79) Scholars are divided about the signification of the word 'clean'. Some say by it one understands bodily cleanliness, others claim that it is spiritual purity that is meant by it.

FEEBLE IS THE CUNNING OF SATAN

… feeble indeed is the cunning of Satan. (4/76)
… Their allies deceived them), like the Evil One, when he says to man, "Deny Allah.: but when (man) denies Allah, (the Evil One) says, "I am free of thee: I do fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds!" (59/16)

O men! Do not fear Satan, remain faithful to justice and stick to the injunctions of the Qur'an. If you behave in this manner Satan will remain ineffective. One should not forget that Satan also being a creature of God dreads Him.

SATAN POWERLESS VERSUS MAN

No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord. His authority is over those only, who take him as patron and who join partners with Allah. (99-100)
… ; but he (Satan) cannot harm them in the least, except as Allah permits; and on Allah let the Believers put their trust. (58/10)

True believer is Satan-proof.
