TWO DIVINE LIGHTS

God has endowed man that he created in perfect shape in every respect with divine characteristics. He has given man two divine lights: namely, an innate one which is intelligence and heart's eye that enables him to perceive the Divine Being and the Books that He sent through his prophets. This enabled man to distinguish between good and evil and made him free to choose either the one or the other.

THE INNATE INTELLIGENCE

… Did ye not, then, understand? (36/62)
Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?- And a tongue, and a pair of lips?- And shown him the two highways? (90/8-10)

Intelligence is using one's existing knowledge to meet new situations and to solve new problems, to learn, to foresee problems, to use symbols or relationships, to create new relationships, to think abstractly, the ability to perceive one's environment, to deal with it symbolically and effectively, to adjust to it and to work toward a goal.

"Now have come to you, from your Lord, proofs (to open your eyes): if any will see, it will be for (the good of) his own soul; if any will be blind, it will be to his own (harm): I am not (here) to watch over your doings." (6/104)
It is He Who has created for you (the faculties of) hearing, sight, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give! (23/78)

God has also endowed man with a 'heart's eye', an intuitive faculty. Intuition is the act or process of coming to direct knowledge or certainty without reasoning or inferring: immediate cognizance or conviction without rational thought: revelation by insight or innate knowledge. The heart is the seat of one's innermost being: one's innermost or actual character, disposition, or feelings; the organ that enables man to perceive directly divine beauties and existence and to distinguish good from evil. … Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts. (22/46)

When thy Lord drew forth from the Children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants, and made them testify concerning themselves, (saying): "Am I not your Lord (who cherishes and sustains you)?"- They said: "Yea! We do testify!" (This), lest ye should say on the Day of Judgment: "Of this we were never mindful": (7/172)

The faculty of knowing God is innate in man; in it is indelible.

We showed him the Way: whether he be grateful or ungrateful (rests on his will). (76/3)

God, having endowed man with the faculty of discernment and discretion that enables him to know and perceive Him, has left him free to choose between good and evil. Therefore man is free, not subject to a particular ruling, authority, or obligation. God is at an equal distance from each man. It is up to the man to come closer to Him by establishing regular prayers and performing the acts He has laid down or drive away from him.

BOOKS REVEALED

A Guide and a Message to men of Understanding. (40/54)
… Are those equal, those who know and those who do not know? It is those who are endued with understanding that receive admonition. (39/9)
Say: "O ye men! Now Truth hath reached you from your Lord! those who receive guidance, do so for the good of their own souls; those who stray, do so to their own loss: and I am not (set) over you to arrange your affairs." (10/108)

The second light that has come down is the Sacred Books which show man the true path. He is free to decide whether he will abide by their contents or go his own way.
